4 Ways to Set Powerful Intentions

And stop throwing your desires in a forgotten wishing well

As humans, I believe we often fail to realize and remember just how powerful our intentions are.

I’m not just talking about the saying and/or thinking about the things you want randomly here and there. I’m talking, the feel-it-in-your-bones-type intentions. The type of intentions that need no second thought or logic.

The ones where you crack open and are honest with yourself about what you want. Where you stand in your truth even if it’s uncomfortable. The intentions that trigger us because those triggers are what holds us back.

When you set intentions everything comes to the surface. All of your limiting beliefs come crashing in. Is this what I really want? Am I doing it for the right reasons? Should I be doing or wanting this at all? Do I deserve what I want? Am I enough to receive it? How on earth am I going to make it a reality?

If you’re not addressing these thoughts and beliefs, they quickly turn into feelings that impact every cell in your body. Then guess what happens? That’s right, you don’t manifest what you want. You don’t see that dream come to fruition because you treated that intention more like a wish; a penny thrown in a wishing well or a fountain and then forgotten about. So, then how will they ever materialize?

How do your intentions come to be when you say what you say, but then scoff under your breath because you heard the voice of fear? They don’t materialize. And, they won’t. You might get close, but those voices will shut that intention down every time.

Want to set powerful intentions? Here’s how you can start today:

1) Get clear about what you really want.

If you want it bad enough, you should be able to imagine yourself there. Feel it. Taste it. If it’s not that big a deal, you’re focusing on the wrong thing. And if it’s truly what you want, there is no fork in the road, alternative or substitute. There is no Plan B.

Sometimes we think we want something, but we want it for the wrong reason. There is no higher purpose for it. And most of the time, it’s not even what we really want. It’s what we think we need at that moment TO get what we want. Or, it stems from a place of desperation, frustration, or something else that isn’t really aligned with your true desires.

Whether it’s money, love or something else, an intention is like a seed that won’t grow roots without a purpose. Find clarity, and you’ll find the purpose.

2) Clear out the crap.

The more you are real about what you want, the more real your excuses, fears and other triggers become. Usually, we run away from them, but to set that real seed of intention, you have to work through what’s keeping you from having what you want.

Example: Want more money? Pay attention to how you feel and think when you set an intention to make that extra $10k this month. What limiting beliefs pop up?

Squash them, and it’s yours. Ignore them, and you’ll restart the cycle. You know the one.

3) Take inspired action.

What are you doing every day to make that intention a reality? Yes, you have to trust. Yes, you have to act as if its already here. But you also have to take action. You have to do your part by creating a map of what you’re going to do to make it happen. Take action everyday until success is met.

If you want something you’ve never had before, you have to do something you’ve never done before.” Jim Rohn

The rest is up to God. Have you done everything in your power today to make that intention a reality?

4) Let go of the how.

If you are doing all of the above, the next logical step is to surrender to having to know how. This is one of the hardest things to do for us humans, which is probably why I talk and write about it so much.

How am I going to find the love of my life? How am I going to make that extra $1k this month? How am I going to heal from this?

How, how + more how = downward spiral of unnecessary emotions, thoughts.

Do the work, and let it go. The next move isn’t yours.

Your Intention Recipe Going Forward

a) Set strong, purposeful intentions.

b) Every single day, work on the internal stuff keeping you from having it.

c) Take ACTION daily towards that intention.

d) Trust that it’s yours like you trust your lungs to take the next breath of air.

e) Repeat.
